Event Category: Career & Counseling Center Events
Division Host: Tara Goodman & Paulette Brown, Counselors
In this 90-minute Zoom workshop, students will be introduced to Psychological First Aid (PFA), an evidence-based approach to helping survivors, witnesses, and responders impacted by traumatic events to reduce their initial stress symptoms and promote their healthy recovery. PFA is a modular approach in which you will learn the core actions to better help those impacted by traumatic events to more readily achieve stabilization. PFA core actions include: contact and engagement, comfort and stabilization, information gathering, practical assistance, connection with social supports, information on coping, and linking to collaborative services. Please note that while this workshop is focused on how to help others, content may be sensitive for some individuals. Counselors will be present to provide private support if needed.
