Delaware County Community College welcomes High School students! This checklist takes high school students through the steps to enroll as a Dual Enrollment student with the College.

If you are not currently seeking dual enrollment at the College or enrolled at another institution and would like to enroll, please visit our Welcome page for those enrollment steps. If you are currently enrolled at another college or university, and would like to enroll at DCCC for courses that will transfer back to your current institution, please visit our Visiting Students page for those enrollment steps.

STEP 2

Create a Plan to Fund Your Dual Enrollment (DE) Classes!

Although all high school dual enrollment students receive a discount on their tuition, it’s still important to ensure that you have a plan in place to make payment when it’s due. Check out the dual enrollment tuition for more information.

  • What if my school is paying for my courses?
    • You may still receive a bill from the College until your school makes payment.  It may be beneficial to confirm with your school that you are registered for courses to ensure your bill is paid.
  • Can Dual Enrollment Students Receive Financial Aid?
    • No, students participating in dual enrollment are not eligible for financial aid.  This is why the College offers a discount for students who register to take courses while still in high school.

STEP 3

Have Course Placement Determined!

  • Course placement (as well as additional requirements such as pre- or co-requisites) will determine if a high school dual enrollment student is eligible to register for selected college courses. Course placement is required before course registration.
  • Some students are eligible to waive the placement test with qualifying standardized test scores. If you are unable to waive the test, please schedule a placement test by contacting the Testing Center at testingcenter@dccc.edu or 610-325-2776.

Important note: Be sure to take time to prepare for the placement test by completing practice tests. Doing so can save you time and money. View your test scores 24-72 hours after completing the placement test or submitting for a waiver/exemption. Note that: ENG 050, REA 030, REA 050, MAT 025 and MAT 050 are developmental scores and only available to current or rising high school seniors.

View your test scores 24-72 hours after completing the placement test or submitting for a waiver/exemption.

To do so:

  1. Log into delaGATE
  2. Select “Apps”
  3. Select “Degree Works”
  4. View “Test Scores”

Important note: ENG 050, REA 030, REA 050, MAT 025 and MAT 050 are developmental courses and only available to current or rising high school seniors.

STEP 4

Log into delaGATE & Complete Orientation

  • Becoming acquainted with student resources (including your student email account) and services is the key to success at the College. Upon FULL completion of the online New Student Orientation, you will receive a Certificate of Completion. delaGATE login is required (first-time users see login instructions).
  • Students participating in a Structured Pathway program may also be invited to an additional orientation specific to your program.

STEP 5

Register for Courses!

  • Open dual enrollment students (i.e., students taking college courses independently of your high school and not as part of the College in the High School or a Pathway programs), please schedule an academic advising appointment.
  • If participating in College in the High School or a Pathway program, you do not need to schedule an academic advising appointment as College staff will register you for your course(s), if eligible.

Important note: Only high school seniors may enroll in developmental courses. Additionally, only Open Dual Enrollment students may register for college courses through Career and Counseling Services.

STEP 6

Ensure Your Bill is Paid & Get Ready!

  • It is important to make sure your bill is covered by the published due date. If your high school is not paying for your course(s), be sure to view and pay your bill at dccc.edu/view-your-bill (delaGATE login required).
  • The College uses Canvas to deliver online, hybrid and classroom courses. To access your courses, log in to delagate.dccc.edu and then click Apps, thenCanvas from the upper right part of the screen. Students are encouraged to log in to their online course(s) on the first day of the semester. A welcome letter will be emailed to your student email account within minutes of registering for an online course. Please make sure you read this information.
  • Obtain your textbooks and any course materials.
  • Get a Student ID card at Enrollment Central (located on the Marple Campus in Founders Hall) or the Learning Commons at branch campuses. Be sure to bring proof of your class registration and a current photo ID with you.

Important note: If you believe your high school will pay your student bill, please be sure you verify with them and review their policies and procedures. Not all high schools will submit payment, therefore it is the student’s responsibility to verify and submit payment, if required.
