The College Offering Scholarships to U.S. Veterans
(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA • April 27, 2022)—Delaware County Community College is offering scholarships to U.S. veterans who reside in Delaware County that will cover the entire cost of training for a variety of industry-recognized certifications in career fields such as Commercial Driver’s License, Multi-Skill Medical Technician (Phlebotomy, EKG, CPR/First Aid, Electronic Health Recording and Dialysis Technician), Network Engineering, and much more.
A grant from the Delaware County Workforce Development Board allowed the College to create this Veteran Students Program. The scholarships cover the entire cost of tuition and fees for non-credit courses. Scholarship funds must be used by June 30. For more information, call 610-723-2000 or email va@dccc.edu. Applicants must show proof of Delaware County residency and provide a copy of their certificate of release/discharge from active duty (DD-214).
The College’s non-credit courses offer veterans flexibility, a condensed program of study and, most importantly for those recently discharged, fully employed, unemployed, or under-employed, the opportunity to upgrade their skills in order to build pathways to employment in high-priority occupations. One of the College’s goals in providing the scholarships is to help build the local, regional and national workforce by increasing the number of veterans entering high-priority, high-skill, high-wage occupations.
The College offers non-credit courses in a variety of disciplines including Automotive, Commercial Driver’s License, Computer Training, ESL Support, Financial Planning, Health Care, Information Technology, Learning Other Languages, Non-Profit Certificate, Professional Development, Project Management, Real Estate, SAT Test Preparation, Self-Enrichment, Skilled Trades (e.g., plumbing), and Spanish for the Professions.
Delaware County Community College is a recipient of a 2022-2023 Military Friendly® School Gold designation.
