Seats Available in Free Medical Administration & IT Career Pathways Programs
(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA • August 30, 2018)—Thanks to a Pennsylvania Strategic Innovation grant from the Commonwealth’s Department of Labor and Industry, Delaware County Community College is offering a free career pathways program in medical administration and information technology. The career pathways programs provide a seamless noncredit to credit educational approach and will benefit students and employers in Delaware and Chester Counties.
The College received the $200,539 grant in conjunction with the Delaware County Workforce Development Board. The grant, one of 16 announced by Governor Tom Wolf in April, has allowed the workforce board and College to implement pilot programs in medical administration and information technology that begin next month. Upon successful completion of the noncredit portion of the program, students will receive credit that they can apply toward the certificate program, thus shortening their time in training.
The medical administration career pathway program allows students to take the medical administration noncredit training before moving into the medical billing certificate program in January. Upon completion of the certificate, students will have 19 college credits and can seek employment in the fields of medical administration or medical billing.
The information technology career pathway program begins with noncredit training in the Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate—Windows Server 2016/CompTIA A+ Certification for computer network technicians course. Then, students can move into the 18-credit network engineering certificate program, which is designed to prepare them for entry-level employment as a networking support technician.
