College Presents Exhibition of Emerging Artists on December 7
(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA • November 28, 2016)—Delaware County Community College presents 215|610 Contemporary: Juried Exhibition of Regional Emerging Artists, on December 7 at the Marple Campus (901 S. Media Line Road, Media, PA). The event begins at 4 p.m. with a lecture by acclaimed artist Pepón Osorio in the Large Auditorium of the Academic Building. The opening reception will be held from 5-7 p.m. in the Art Gallery, Room 2305 of the Academic Building.
This juried exhibition intends to engage the community in regional art. The work of 22 artists from the Philadelphia area will be on display. Selected by Pepón Osorio, the collection proposes contemporary redefinitions of an age-old method of creating art.
Pepón Osorio is an artist, teacher and MacArthur Fellow who President Obama recently nominated to the National Council on the Arts. Best known for his large-scale baroque and polemically charged installations, Osorio merges conceptual art and community dynamics. His work emphasizes the exhibition space as an intermediary between the social architecture of communities and the mainstream art world. He has engaged with more than 25 communities across the nation and internationally, creating installations inspired by real-life experiences.
This special event is part of the College’s Visual Arts Series and is free and open to the public. Reservations are strongly recommended and can be made at www.dccc.edu/gallery. The exhibition is on view from December 7 through January 13, 2017 (closed from December 23 through January 2). Normal operating hours are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
