Welcome As a proud graduate of DCCC and a mid-life career changer, I enjoy working with students of all ages to help them meet their personal, educational and career goals. It has been said that some of our life experience is determined by the things that happen to us, but much more is the result of how we react to those things. College counselors have the training, skills, and temperament to help students make better choices about a wide variety of life issues. My Approach to Counseling I believe that professional counselors are essentially change agents who help their clients respond to normal life transitions and adjustments. Using a solid theoretical background in human development, mental health, personality, learning styles and motivation, college counselors apply their helping skills to assist students become better decision makers who are better prepared to meet their educational and career goals. Students are unique individuals who come with a wide variety of supporting resources, different levels of clarity about their goals, and varying levels of self-confidence and academic accomplishments. I believe that most clients generally know themselves pretty well, but often have "blind spots" about their issues. Counselors help students by identifying these blind spots and sorting out the issues in ways that they can more easily understand.
