New Music Concert Series Presents Multimedia Saxophonist Nick Zoulek
(Delaware and Chester Counties, PA • September 19, 2018)—Delaware County Community College’s New Music Concert Series continues its fall season with a performance by Nick Zoulek on Sunday, October 7. The performance begins at 3 p.m. in the Large Auditorium of the Academic Building on the Marple Campus (901 South Media Line Road, Media, PA).
Zoulek’s influence on the fields of modern music and avant-garde performance has added color, energy and light to the enigmatic world of contemporary saxophone. Praised as “stunningly virtuosic, whatever the genre” (Wall Street Journal), Zoulek is a saxophonist of “pure mindfulness and talent” (PopMatters). A “No-holds-barred engine of avant-garde exploration,” Zoulek explores new possibilities in saxophone performance, creating visceral tapestries of sound. A concert soloist, he has performed across France, the United Kingdom, Canada and the United States. Zoulek actively researches the saxophone’s role in classical music, and holds degrees from BGSU, the Conservatoire de Boulogne and UW-Whitewater. Zoulek’s music can be heard on his solo album Rushing Past Willow (Innova Records).
General admission to the performance is $10 and tickets are available online or at the door. Free admission is available for students from local colleges, universities and high schools. ADA Assistive Listening Devices, accessible seating and free parking are also available.
