College Seal
The seal of the Community College of Delaware County has been designed as a symbolic representation of the College's primary goal to provide post-high school education to the youth and adults of Delaware County.
The name of the College is on the outside of the seal. The four points of the compass, pointing outward, show the College's hope to serve all parts of the County by providing higher educational opportunities to its citizens.
The rays of the sun above the lamp indicate the birth of knowledge that the College hopes to spread throughout the Community.
The lamp itself - the center of the seal - represents the purpose for which the College was founded - education - which serves as a light to show the way to a more enriching life for each individual. Beneath the lamp is the motto of the College - Community Service through Education.
The wavy lines below the motto represent the Delaware River, bordering the Delaware County on the east. The straight lines beneath symbolize the fertile lands of the County.
The scroll is designed in the traditional manner, representing the rich historical traditions of the County. Within the scroll are two branches, each with eight leaves, standing for the fifteen members of the College's Board of Trustees and the President of the College.
The 1967 in the crossing of the branches represents the year the college was founded.
The seal will be royal blue and gold, which are the colors of both the College and the County. The College purposely adapted the colors of Delaware County to emphasize the fact that the College is for the citizens of Delaware County.
