Tuition

Welcome to Online Learning. Student will receive a welcome email a few minutes after registering for an online course. Please take the time to read and review this email. Students who take online courses must possess the following skills and abilities:

  • Ability to access and maneuver through the Internet with confidence
  • Ability to download, save and open a variety of file types including documents, audio/video, etc.
  • Ability to install plugins and related minor software upgrades (as/if needed)
  • Willing to dedicate consistent amounts of time each week towards their studies
  • Willing to meet deadlines and due dates throughout the semester

Students must have reliable and consistent access to a computer and the Internet in order to take online courses. While mobile devices are fine to access your online courses, we do not recommend that you use a smartphone to type papers and related work which is better suited for a computer, laptop or tablet.

Please Note: Some online courses require students to take their exams within a proctored environment, as part of our student identity verification initiative. Students who choose to take a proctored exam at another institution OR online through a remote proctoring service will incur additional costs. There are no additional costs when taking an in person proctored exam at any of our College locations. Review the comments section of each course in CLASS SEARCH to see if the online course you are interested in has in-person requirements.

Classes Anytime, Anywhere

Since 1998, Delaware County Community College has offered the flexibility and convenience of online and hybrid learning courses. Choose from more than 150 online and 30 hybrid learning courses offered throughout the academic year. Online courses are delivered through Canvas, a learning management system that allows students 24/7 access to coursework and technical support. Online courses offer students the opportunity to learn within the convenient and dynamic online environment while managing other aspects of their busy lives. Students can enjoy a high level of collaboration, within a content rich learning environment, that offers a robust individual and group learning experience.

Online courses offered by Delaware County Community College adhere to the same policies, procedures and rigorous academic standards as campus-based courses and require students to dedicate consistent amounts of study time to each course. Online courses can assist students who are looking to accelerate their degree completion time, learn new skills, seek a promotion, or a new job, all while managing their critical life responsibilities.

Register For An Online Class & What To Look Out For When Registering

Registering for online or hybrid courses is simple. Current students may register online through delaGATE or visit our registration site at www.dccc.edu/register. New and readmit students need to complete an Application for Admission or register in person at one of the College's locations. PLEASE pay attention to section numbers. Any section number with an A or B means that these courses are 7 week courses. Section A courses start at the beginning of each full semester, while section B courses start midway through a full semester of a Fall or Spring term.

How To Access And Start Your Online Or Hybrid Course

The College uses Canvas to deliver online, hybrid and classroom courses. To access your courses, login to delagate.dccc.edu and then click APPS, then Canvas from the upper right part of the screen. Students are encouraged to login to their online course(s) on the first day of the semester. A welcome letter will be emailed to your student email account within minutes of registering for an online course. Please make sure you read this information.

Already registered for an online class? Review this welcome letter that explains how to access your course, when you can access the course and how to get started after you register. Please make sure to check your student email on a regular basis. Student email is found in delaGATE, under Apps > Student Email.

Complaint Process

All students are encouraged to review the student handbook to understand their rights, as well as College policies and procedures. To file a complaint, please visit the student complaints website. Students living out of state should attempt to resolve any academic issues or complaints with the College first. If after following the College's complaint procedures the issue cannot be resolved internally, you may file a complaint with the appropriate state agency.

Hybrid Courses

Hybrid courses have a reduced amount of classroom time, where teaching and learning occurs both in the classroom as well as online. Classroom attendance and online participation is mandatory. Examples of hybrid courses may be an evening course that meets for 3 hours a week on a Monday night every other week or a course that meets 1 hour a week in the classroom and the remaining 2 hours of that week are conducted online.

Succeeding In Online & Hybrid Courses

Successful online/hybrid learning students are typically self-motivated, active participants who are able to manage their study environments closely. Students need to remember that all online and hybrid learning courses have due dates for assignments, discussions, quizzes and exams, so you must adjust your study habits and preparation time to meet these deadlines.
